HORT PARK - IRRIGATION POND

Hort Park is one of the parks managed by National Parks Board with the aim to educate people about plants and gardening. It is a place visited by individuals, families and members of educational institutions and organisations to learn about plants, and is a place for inspiration in gardening and landscaping while enjoying the freshness of the environment.

For this Integrated Project for Year 1, the area within the park which was focused on is the Irrigation Pond. Instead of being purely functional to supply water for the watering of the plants within the park, this pond can also serve as an area for retreat where visitors are able to enjoy the beauty of the water body as part of the park's landscape area. A part of the pond was selected and re-proposed to further fulfill the objective.

With a concept of a haven of serenity, unwind in tranquillity, the purpose of this design was to entice visitors with nature by having spaces for relaxation and bonding among them. By introducing resting spaces with scenic views in order to attain a sense of tranquillity towards visitors, making them feel relaxed and also by introducing bonding spaces to promote picnicking in the area; this further strengthens the purpose of the design.
